“Pirka Noka” means “beautiful form” in the Ainu language. This word stands for outstanding scenic spots in Hokkaido steeped in the stories and folklore of the Ainu, places of prayer, or with names from the Ainu language. Cape Erimo was designated a nationally recognized Pirka Noka scenic spot in August 2010.
